International textile fiber abbreviations

The table below contains international abbreviations for the most common textile fibers. We use the abbreviations in the sewing instructions in OTTOBRE design® magazine as well as in product descriptions in our fabric store to describe the fiber composition of fabrics. The various fibers are listed in descending order based on the percentage of each fiber in the fabric composition, e.g. cotton/elastane (CO/EL). Sometimes the exact percentage of each fiber is given, e.g. viscose/linen/elastane (70% CV, 25% LI, 5% EL).
