This floral shirt dress is made from printed cotton poplin. It can be worn over our double-gauze dress as a light coat.
When worn on its own, the shirt dress is buttoned down the front and the belts, inserted into the side seams, and tied in a bow on the front. The dress has an elastic casing at the back waist, and the sleeves are finished with plackets and cuffs. The collar gives the dress a nostalgic 1970's look.
The leggings are made from firm rib knit and detailed with frills at the bottom edges of the legs. The bottom edges of both the frills and legs are finished with a serger rolled hem to create lettuce edges.
This cosy double-gauze dress is perfect for everyday wear! The easy-care dress doesn't even require ironing after washing. Its neckline is finished with bias-cut facing, and there is a slit with a button loop closure at the back neckline. There are patch pockets on the front and elasticated hems at the bottom edges of the sleeves.
The front of these sweatpants is cut in one piece, and knee patches are added to the leg fronts. There are hip pockets on the front, and the elasticated waist casing also has a flat drawcord.
The speciality of the hoodie is a crown panel in the front part of the hood that helps the hood lie flat on the back when it's not worn over the head. The hoodie has raglan sleeves and a roomy kangaroo pocket. Both the hoodie and the sweatpants are made from organic 100% cotton sweatshirt knit.
This long-sleeve raglan T-shirt is sewn from printed cotton single jersey, and its neckline is finished with ribbed binding. The left raglan seam is detailed with a mock button band, also made from ribbing, and three coconut buttons.
OTTOBRE design® kids 1/2023 will soon be published!
We are happy to introduce you to our revamped magazine.
As the days are getting longer and the sun is peeping out from behind the clouds, one feels like taking on new sewing projects. Our latest issue is filled with beautiful designs made from lovely fabrics, such as pointelle jersey, waffle jersey, rib knits, soft organic-cotton knits, double-gauze cotton fabrics and printed poplins. We also made use of recycled materials on a T-shirt and on denim overalls. For toddlers we designed two cute outfits with animal appliqués. For schoolchildren we made an adorable sweatshirt with heart appliqués, color-block sweatpants and laid-back carpenter pants. The issue also includes a stylish spring parka, a practical anorak, and many other inspiring designs in sizes 50–170 cm.
We made moderate reforms to both the appearance and the content of the magazine, taking into account our readers’ wishes. As the spring issue kicks off the 24th publishing year of our magazine, we felt that a bit of restyling was in order. We added hashtags to all of the designs displayed on the color pages, so that you can tag photos of your versions of the designs on social media and search for pictures of clothes that other readers have made with our patterns.
We have also further developed our website content. Explore, for example, our informative and useful size charts section! There you’ll find downloadable size charts that can be printed out and filled in for use in your own projects. You are no doubt already familiar with the OTTOBRE LAB section. It’s worth checking it out now and again because new, issue-specific content is regularly being added to it.
Order your issue postage-free until 21 January 2023!
This sweatshirt is sewn from soft, printed organic-cotton sweatshirt knit by @elvelyckan.design. It's detailed with solid-color center-panels on the sleeves that extend from the bottom edges of the sleeves to the neckline. It has a ribbed neckline band and ribbed sleeve cuffs.
The sweatpants have straight legs, an elastic waist casing and pockets in the side seams. The material is cotton sweatshirt knit with a brushed reverse side. Preshrink cotton fabrics by washing them before cutting the garment pieces out, because cotton shrinks in the first wash. Serge or zigzag the raw edges of the fabric before washing to prevent lint coming off them and sticking to the fabric surface.
This striped top is made from lovely, soft interlock knit, which is easy to work with as its raw edges don't curl like the edges of single jersey do. The shoulders of the top are dropped and the sleeves are straight. The front and back necklines are finished with narrow ribbed binding.
This pretty sweatshirt is sewn from soft organic-cotton sweatshirt knit by @elvelyckan.design with cover-stitched raglan seams. It has wide sleeve cuffs and a wide hem band, and the neckline is finished with narrow ribbed binding.
This child loves dresses and skirts, especially those with twirly hemlines. The tiered skirt is sewn from lightweight, printed baby cord with an elastic casing at the waist. Each tier on the front and back is first gathered to the tier above it, then the completed skirt front and back are joined by stitching the side seams.
